This article describes a study designed to identify factors for the management of the biodiesel supply chain. Preliminary aspects were identified from literature and interviews with experts. The aspects were evaluated resulting in a set of 24 variables. The variables, along with other relevant issues, supported the elaboration of a questionnaire placed on a website which served to obtain the perception of a number of experts involved in the biodiesel supply chain. The perceptions of the experts were analyzed by multivariate techniques resulting in a structure comprising six factors for the management of the biodiesel supply chain. The study was carried out by a group of researchers from the Post-Graduate Program in Chemical and Biochemical Technological Processes of Rio de Janeiro Federal University/UFRJ, and from the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology/Inmetro. Thus, the authors hope to contribute to the scientific community and promote a critical reflection on the theme.
