This study provides a new and easy methodology for determining the patenting protection strategy of firms, entrepreneurs, universities and research centers. Literature on this topic is minimal since it is a factor that generates high competitive advantages over competitors. Overall, our approach uses patent analysis and market research methodologies based on low-cost databases to define technology value and target countries to perfonn patent fillings for an international technological strategy. We use a patent example to show how this methodology operates and we conclude that this patent should be protected in tive different countries in which has comparative advantages and commercial possibilities.
