Factores Subjetivos y Culturales para la Puesta en Práctica de un Programa de Uso Eficiente de Agua en la Ciudad

Abstract

En la ciudad de Cartago, Costa Rica para el año 2025, se proyecta un déficit de agua de 250 l/s, el cual se debe atender para evitar conflictos y pérdida de bienestar. En esta investigación, se analizan factores de cambio cultural y se plantea un escenario que incluye la modificación de hábitos y el uso de dispositivos ahorradores por parte de los usuarios, así como el compromiso que debe asumir el municipio, de reducir pérdidas de agua por fugas en la red de distribución, como medidas que evitarían el déficit de agua futuro. Como resultados, se tiene que es posible reducir un 38% en la cantidad de agua utilizada y que en vez de darse el déficit de agua proyectado, se tendría un superávit de 181 l/s, lo que tiene como consecuencia que no se tendría que recurrir a la explotación de nuevas fuentes de agua.

In the city of Cartago, Costa Rica in 2025, it is expected that the shortfall in water of 250 l/s, it which should be addressed to avoid conflicts and loss of welfare. In this research, we analyze factors of cultural change and pose a scenario that involves changing habits and the use of devices savers by users, as well as the commitment that must be assumed by the municipality, to reduce water loss by leaks in the distribution network, such as measures which would prevent the water deficit future. As a result, is possible to reduce a 38% on the amount of water used and that instead of throwing the water deficit projected, would be a surplus of 181 l/s, with the result that shouldn't have to resort to the exploitation of new sources of water.
