Biocombustíveis No Brasil: Evolução Do Patenteamento Do Etanol Combustível De Cana-De-Açúcar No Brasil A Partir Do Programa Nacional Do Álcool – Pró-Alcool (1974 - 2012)

Abstract

O artigo trata do setor produtivo do etanol combustível proveniente da cana-de-açúcar no Brasil e objetiva avaliar seu panorama tecnológico atual a partir da análise de patentes e pedidos de patentes depositados no país. Especificamente, objetiva atualizar o mapeamento tecnológico dessa cadeia produtiva feito para o período 1974-2006 com dados para o período 2007-2012. Com o propósito de subsidiar o debate sobre a estratégia brasileira para o setor, o artigo aponta características de uma das principais linhas de financiamento para seu desenvolvimento tecnológico atentando para o perfil do patenteamento no país. Por fim, introduz a discussão sobre as patentes no estabelecimento de padrões técnicos internacionais considerando os esforços da atuação brasileira para transformar o etanol em commodity global.

This paper focuses on sugar cane ethanol fuel sector in Brazil aiming at the evaluation of current technological landscape of the sector through the analysis of patents and patent applications filed in the country. Specifically, it aims at updating the technological mapping of the ethanol production chain made for the period 1974-2006 with new data ranging from 2007 to 2012. With the purpose of subsidizing the debate on the strategy of the sector in Brazil, the article points out the characteristics of one of the main lines of national funding for its technological development, attempting to the profile of patenting in the country. Finally, it introduces the patents issues in the settlement of international technical standards, considering the efforts of Brazilian action to turn ethanol into a global commodity.
